    HEFFNER PERFORMANCE BREAKS THE WORLD RECORD....AGAIN!

    Recently the worlds fastest IRS (Independant Rear Suspension), 6-speed car built buy Heffner Performance ran another killer run......

    7.99@177mph

    Yes, 7.99 at 177 mph down the 1/4 mile. This tops the previous time of 8.2. The 1000 horsepower, Twin Turbo viper made two daring pre-runs. The first run with the car shooting off the line, front in the air and heading towards the wall. Without any trouble, it was corrected and still made a pass of 8.05. On the third run, it ran right into the 7 second club. Video and more news is soon to follow.

    I've never really liked Vipers, goes against what i like in a performance car.
    I like a very light, very evenly powered sports coupe. Not a car that weights more than your house and has enough power to tear the engine from its mountings...

    Ahh Americans and their obscure drag records. This one almost beats the "fastest 'full weight' WRX on street tyres" record.

    The thing about the Viper is that its great. Its like the greatest and most stereotypical American car ever:

    Its way overpowered, its realitively cheap (considering power and performance), it looks outrageous and it isn't very good at taking corners!

    I've always thought the Heffner Vipers were the cream of the crop

    I like Vipers, especially the oldschool ones - the only thing wrong with them is when people try to apply standards to them that they shouldn't. The Viper isn't designed to compete with the 911 - it's supposed to be a raw, powerful driving experience, end of story. It's not supposed to be able to be driven by anyone, and its not supposed to be fast around a track (even if it is) - it's supposed to scare you when you drive it. Sounds like fun to me.

    that WRX rexord is dumb, but this one is valid. Most drag cars that quick would be running solid rear axles and Powerglides, Turbo 400s, Torque Flites etc

    It's just too bad that the Z06 is faster and costs less, which is why I love them.

    I like Vipers too though and this one is crazy.
