Either Sir Stirling Moss or Sir Jackie Stewart, or Michael Schumacher...
i like a lot of race car drivers but i respect the old greats like nuvolari, ascari, james dean, and such
Don't bother me, I'm probably working while posting...
UCP's biggest...oh man...i got nothin'
I can't believe nobody's mentioned Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost.
I'll never forget the way Senna carved up the field at Donnington in 1993. Under powered engine and poor chassis all washed away when the rains came down. Just absolute masterful control of the car in the wet.
Wasn't James Deah a singer/actor?Originally Posted by CHEESE-TACULAR

He died on the public highway, hit by a Ford Tudor. ( 50 years ago in Spetember )
He was driving TO a race with his mechanic. He decided to drive down rather than trailer it to get some miles on the engine to run it in for the race. His mechanic was beside him friends Roth and Hickman were following in a station wagen with the trailer originaly going to be used to tow the Spyder to the race track.
Dean did race competitively but not professionally. It would be like saying Steve McQueen was a bike racer. ( so we really need a "definition" of racer -- or McQueen WILL get niinated for his of-road bike racing . Is it a professional or amateur ? Does the number or level of competition matter ?? )
The hi res images aren't up yet, but even the thumbnail shows there wasn't much left after .....

Fifty years and they aren't up "yet"??Originally Posted by Matra et Alpine
My favourite race car driver is Chris Atkinson. He is very young but I know that he has got a huge amount of potential.
Paddy Hopkirk.
Ayrton, of course! JPM comes close second.. for now.
I don't like Schumacher a bit but I respect him for his ability. Shame for those who think that he didn't drive well this season; he did, but he just didn't have the fastest car anymore.
Zag when they Zig
Tony Stewart or Sam Hornish junior.
Sir Stirling Moss.Absolute Racing Legend. Noone will ever accomplish anything like the Mille Miglia.
Best F1 all-rounder has to be Schumacher, but my favourite racer will always be Gerry Marshall. Total legend.
nobody has mentioned Phil Hill yet, even though he has more Ferrari victories than Michael Schumacher.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
