Whats gonna happen to Bugatti Veyron

ive read about the veyron in a lot of magazines.... but i cant figure out if the final veyron really is gonna produce 1001 hp and have a topspeed at 406 km/h... ive heard that they had trouble controling the enormous powers and that would "turn it down" to a lot less hp and turn the topspeed down to " only 360 km/h....

do you know anything about it

im almost possitive that the US model, due to emmisions regulations will produce "only" 987 hp

    Delayed

The latest is it will have 987bhp, 922lb ft torque and will be limited to 218mph/ 350km/h
due to "high speed stability issues".

Production has been delayed due to quality issues and it won't be available to customers untill the second half of 2005, by which time it will be almost 6 years old.

This car was supposed to be the ultimate car, huge ammounts of power and torque, huge top speed and acceleration, and the ultimate in luxury.

However Bugatti have managed to produce a car which cannot go fast (why they didn't check the aerodynamics until well into the development phase is beyond me. If I were touting figures of 250+mph, it would have been one of the first things I checked.), and has "quality issues".

It is a complete farce, and an insult to the potential customers.

I am beginning to doubt whether it will actually be produced.

Did you know that the engine actually produces 3000bhp.

But as a result of energy ineficiency 1000 is lost through heat from the engine and other heat etc...

I also think that the other 1000 is lost through the tyres and not being efficent in converting the energy to the road.

So the Bugatti engine is more powerfull than you actually imagine. If you don't believe me find a copy of Focus froma couple months back it explains everthing.

I thought this thread was going to be about how many of them you think will be crashed.

I think most will end up in garages to appriciate, but with so many people doing this now its not going to work.

The engine is capable of producing 3000 HP, or produces 3000 and 2000 are lost to heat and drivetrain inefficiency? That's a lot of lost power.

cant actually find the full article off that link....

I obviously havent read it, but surely that would apply to all cars then? Why is the Veyron producing so much power but only a 1/3 useable power??? Doesnt sound quite right to me....

Well i havent been able to find the whole article but all engines arent 100% efficent its the laws of physics but the more power from a bigger enngine you also lose more power from it.

If you want i can nick the mag from my 6th form archive place with all these mags(blueprint, focus, new scientist, national geographic, etc, etc)

Its to do with the efficiency of the engine. As a rule of thumb, of the total energy contained in the fuel you pump in, you get 1/3rd out as useable power, then lose 1/3rd as heat into the cooling system and 1/3rd as waste heat out the exhaust. The engine isn't really producing 3000hp, you're giving it 3000hp worth of fuel and its giving you 1000hp to actually use.

Thats also why it has IIRC 11 radiators, because you're having to dump 1000hp of heat into the cooling system when on full chat. They have to cool the gearbox and axle oil too, even though the gears are ~95%+ efficient, when you pass that much power through them the 5% loss adds up to a lot of energy they have to dissipate.
