De Tomaso Pantera 2 SI Targa

    DeTomaso Pantera 2 SI Targa

Of the 41 Pantera SI's manufactured by De Tomaso, four underwent official Targa conversions by the Milanese coachbuilder Pavesi. Specialists in open-top modifications, Pavesi had been building Longchamp Spyder's and targa-topped Pantera's since the seventies. Costing almost 50% more than the standard car, SI Targa's were reinforced to compensate for the lack of a roof and so good was the end result, it was almost impossible to tell the car had not been designed as such from scratch. Easily removed, the roof could then be stowed under the rear deck.

Making its debut at the 1993 Brussels Motor Show, the SI Targa was the last hurrah for De Tomaso's Pantera. Having been in production in one form another since 1971, it had outlived all its contemporaries, only the Lamborghini Countach coming close to rivalling the Pantera's 23 year run. Just four SI Targa's were built between 1993 and '94 on chassis numbers 9636, 9637, 9638 and 9639. Two were completed with six-speed Getrag transmissions (9637 and 9639).

The color is a bit gay IMO, but the car itself is amazing. I wish I was onf of the four lucky bastards...

I know, but for my collection it would be nice to have the rearside of the Targa-version as well as the Coupe
