"fun" what-if ---- what kind of person are you ?

    OK.

Moral dilema, what would YOU do, how woudl you rationalise it and how woudl you get everyeon to agree ?

    Question ONE :

You have the chance to own a car of your dreams. It's a one-off opportunity. BUT you would have to put family plans and wants aside ( maybe a move to a larger house, or a vacation or something "big" ).
Maybe you lose a job opportunity or miss out on a new hot girlfriend

So what do YOU do ?

Do you go for the self-indulgence and get that car even if only for a year.

    or what ....

Something to ponder. Going to be interesting to see how this spins out whilst some of us are at Autosport International. See you Sunday

If my wife and my kids would enjoy going for rides in the new car than surely I would get it. I don't think it would be to hard to raise your kids to love cars, I think the hard part would be finding a wife who enjoys them. But if in the future the rest of my family hates cars and I had to give up something important to them then I wouldn't get the car. I could settle for a lesser car I would think.

I want to see how the supercar owners of the forum answer it...

I wouldn't take the car, I change my mind about what my favortie car is so often I would tire of it quickly and want something else.

We're in UCP so it's the ultimate car -- so isn't a "family" car as such. It's an out and out performance car.

    Can't make this too easy

Haha, yea I know it's not a "family" car, but it's not gonna only have one seat most likely, so they could still enjoy riding in it.

    One at a time ?

I'm trying to STOP folks finding the "easy" way out of this by rationalising a car that meets all needs. Imagine the wildest An open-top caterham in Alsaka in winter for example No "easy" answers !!!

Right I'm off to bed, up in 4 hours to drive for 6

If it is a big sacrifice for the family I wouldn't do it. An exotic sports car is an indulgence and if others were sacrificing something so that I could indulge, would make it very unfair? I couldn't enjoy it like that!!

Unless money is a complete non-issue, a large purchase is planned in advance. For example, if you plan for it and then the family vacation is abandoned or delayed, it's acceptable.

Such an self-indulgence should not be spur of the moment, Instant gratification type of purchase. If it is it'll become a point of contention adn not contentment.

All depends on what yours dreams turn towards. For me it has always been going fast, be it bikes or cars.

The possibility of a hot new girlfriend is something I have passed up before, so no big lose for me there.

Houses and hoilidays, again, nice, but not what I work hard to get - just not gets me going.

    Easy choice.

I love cars, but a cheaper car will get you around just as well.
