    Ferrari 600 Imola

5 January 2006-One of the more exciting releases in 2006 is this Ferrari 599 GTB. It replaces the 550/575 Maranello and offers more interior space and power than its predacessors.

At first glance the Imola mimics the 612 Scgalietti, its larger 4-seat brother. Both share the same front end design which Pininfarina sets as the enduring face of Ferrari. Unlike the 612 however, the 599 has an entirely new roof line and much more tidy rear end treatment.

Underneath the purposeful skin, the 599 retains the same front engine V12 layout which the 550/575 Maranello line successfully introduced. To make up for its longer chassis, the 599 uses a 5.999-liter engine producing 620 bhp.

More details will be available after the car's debut at either the Detroit or Geneva auto show in 2006.

I don't know what I have to think about it yet...

How it is that Ferrari cant make a nice looking car like in the past? They got the best designers in the world so why are they making such hideous cars like 612, 430, enzo and now this? I really like ferrari cars but come on, thats too much

I like the Enxo, I like the 430. But this is too edgy. I prefer clean lines and purer shapes. The wheels are in fact hideous. I thought it would look even worse though. The 575 had the perfect shape.

I was never a fan of the 612, buts its growing on me.

And Im sure this car will look a lot more formidable and 'Ferrari-like' on the road, as opposed to the (rather crap) pictures. The back doesnt look half bad!

Mixed reactions here...firstly it sucks in red but it's not the first Ferrari to do so IMO. Secondly those rims are even worse then the optional 612 rims....they sorely need to hire BMW's wheel designer.

People used to say the 550 was a Supra clone....well the one has even more Supra shape to it. Yes, Ferrari is on a slippery slope design wise and it isn't good. Will hold futher judgement until I see one in person in another color.

Oh man! they just don't design them like the good old days. Bring back some old school!
If they don't know how to design good looking cars they should bring back the 288, 512BB or Daytona in the same way Lamborghini will do with the Miura and as Ford did with the Gt40.

I actually don't think it looks that bad. In my eyes it looks about the same as the 430 or even a bit nicer. Sure they could've done it a lot better, but they also could've made it worse. :cough: scaglietti :cough: But like Dino said, I'll have to see it in person to make up my mind.

edit: oh, yeah and the rear looks quite hidious right now, but perhaps it grows on you.

It actually looks a bit like a TVR. Long nose, short rear. The nose really looks like the Sagaris...

Are you sure this isn't a modified 350Z? The cabin lines look very similar.

Wheels suck, Bartski's pic makes it look better. But that front side vent just looks bad. I know someone will say it's for cooling but it just look awkward.
