Friend (who is currently interstate) received a speeding fine, and as his mail come to my address I (at his request) opened and chased it up with the NSW State Debt Recovery Office.

This led to a very interesting phone call.......

Me: Hi, I'm Xxxx Zzzzzz and calling about the speed camera notice sent to me. The offence date is 9th Jan 2006. Isn't there a 6 month statue of limitations on speeding fines?
SDRO: No, thats not the case
Me: So what is the statue of limitation on a speed camera fine?
SDRO: 12 months
Me: So this being older then 12 months is past that point and doesn't need to be paid?
SDRO: Well we tried to send you letters previously but we had the wrong address.
Me: This is past the 12 months and doesn't need to be paid, is that correct?
SDRO: Yes, but you can still pay it if you want to
Me: If I don't pay nothing will happen?
SDRO: No
Me: If I pay then I loose 2 licence points and the fine?
SDRO: Yes, you can pay if you want to
Me: Thank you, have a great afternoon

And my brother is home they say he is able too make decisions for himself now so they can't hold him in, We wanted him too stay but he has had enough, Now he is trying too become a out patient for rehabilitation.

I remember reading something about Dutch speed camera fighters who used to post letters in Chinese or Arabic, making it difficult to process and drawing out the length of time it took to get a speed camera fine properly looked after in the system. apparantly it's a very short amount of time over in Holland - like 16 weeks

And, i can honestly say - i'm looking foward to posting my speeding fines to my old address shortly

I'll add my bit on the visual differences between the VR and VS Commodores. The VR has rectangular indicator lenses in the front guards...the VS (series 2 at least)has oval lenses.
