I like how they have a midget class and a "top fuel" class, so to speak.
I would still take the Goggo, it's more practical.
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"

Crazy and Japanese advertising usually go hand in hand.

I just love how they've added the "Honda! Honda! Honda! Honda!" bit. Brilliant that is.

Very cool video. There's something very organic yet mechanical about those two tower thingys. I mean, it reminds me of a pine tree as well as the turbine blades inside a jet engine.

Also, the video looks like it's been speeded up a lot. I wonder how quickly that stuff magnetizes? Also, is that liquid still liquid, or does it have some resistance to it? Or does it freeze solid like ice? Interesting stuff.

Yeah, I couldn't help but laugh at how 80's the ad felt. Plus the ad was just way over the top. I nearly fell over laughing.

But hey, that's Japan for ya! Quirky since who knows when.

I think Japan's quirkiness originated in the post-WWII era when there was a fundamental backlash against traditional Japanese conservatism and an embrace of things more American.

    I don't think being American = weird.

    But hey, who knows.

I think it was in part due to the exposure to a more liberal society - their music, their sport, their lifestyle, etc. The rejection of traditional Japanese values after the war - for whatever reason - I think was the genesis of Japanese quirkiness.

I don't think they fully rejected their traditional values, I think they just added to them to make them less rigid. Oh well, we're going way off topic now.

I like the fact that both traditional japanese values and quirkiness can live together in modern Japan. I love also the fact the fact that they are so different to western values.

I'd love going to Japan with an expert.
