Ban Yuji Ide!, says sir Stirling Moss

A Formula One legend has called for struggling rookie Yuji Ide to be stripped of his Super License.
Sir Stirling Moss, one of the greatest drivers of the 50s, called the Super Aguri straggler's botched attempt to overtake Christijan Albers at Imola 'disgraceful'.
He also criticised stewards' decision to hand the 31-year-old nothing more than a formal reprimand, rather than an actual penalty.
Dutchman Albers' Midland rolled five times in the gravel trap, but later pleaded with Ide's critics to give any Grand Prix newcomer a 'second chance'.
However, 76-year-old Moss told the Mirror in Britain: “The guy really isn't competent enough. The FIA have to get stricter."
It's not denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

I couldn't agree more - F1 isn't the place for idiots. It all looks so calm, collected and controlled whenit's going right, you forget how badly and catastrophically it can go wrong when it does! The last thing you need is someone causing uneccessary risks.

The best point someone made was one of the ITV crew people, saying what good would have that overtake manoeuvre done for Ide? He's gotto think about the big picture before he goes hauling himself into corners trying to overtake cars that will ultimately beat him anyway....

Although Albers does have a reasonable opinion (He was a rookie last year so he knows what its like) I do think that Ide should have been repremanded more than that. Stirling Moss' call for his ban might be too harsh though, but why not 'bench' Ide to testing for the next couple races and promote the test driver? They do have a test driver, right?

somehow i think he may have been driving single seaters for quite a while

but being new to f1 is no excuse for that abysmal attempt at a passing move. a few years ago albers would have died

    thanks Jack

now that i've seen it, i can say that Ide was being nothing but stupid trying to overtake him... and unfortunately what Derek said is true about Albers dieing if it was a few years ago!

I think to call it an overtaking manoevre is rather generous! Looked purely like punting Albers off the track to me. I'd ban him if it were my choice.

I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

It's because Yuji wanted to put extra stickers on his car.

What part of the track did Ide think he was going to pass him on??? Sure you can make a move like that in a touring car, but an open wheeler?? What sort of idiot feeds a guy a wheel in an F1 car? Ban him, he's a bum.
