The 20 to 28 thousand dollar question.

WRX vs. Jetta 2.0T vs. S40 T5 vs. Civic Si vs. Mazdaspeed6

Each is a performance car with practical roots.

Which one stirs you? Consider the aftermarket, resale, fuel consumption...if you were considering buying one for yourself. I wish we got the Civic Si in a 4-door, as it's the only Coupe. Still, it seats four.

just checked, The Volvo cost 45000 US$, the Mazda more than 60,000, the Honda is not available in this edition, the Subaru is 40,000, an the Jetta just over 40,000. Just another example how cheap cars are being sold in the USA...
On the basis of our prices I would most likely take the Jetta, and taking into account fuel costs, in a diesel version...

whoa, I had no idea cars were so expensive in Holland.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

This level of taxation on cars is abusive. It's not like the gov't is trying to foster the local auto manufacturers. How much does a very basic car cost in Holland? Something like a Toyota Yaris. In the US they just introduced the Yaris, ranging from 11-15K.

I would look at the Mazda Speed 3. The 6 is on the big side, a great car, but I think the 3 would be more rewarding to drive.

I like the Mazdaspeed3 as well, just the 250+ HP in a Small FWD spells torque steer.

Ouch! So, even if you bought elsewhere you'd still have to pay import duty? Otherwise, that would be a good work-around.

I can see how in an international forum pricing is not the best for limiting choices. I'd left the Evo out since it was more than 30K. In Europe it seems it's hard to buy for less than 30K (USD).

How's about prices in, is it Dubai?

I guess it isn't a 20-28 thousand dollar question. So, which one?

From that list, the Volvo. I'd prefer the new GTi though.

Out of those the Volvo, though I prefer the V50. Here in spain the base Volvo S40 T5 costs something like 35k € (more than 44k $), and we don't get the 2-litre turbo in the Jetta nor the Civic neither. The Impreza is 33k € (42k $) and the Mazda 35k € (again over 44k $).

But I had to choose according to the budget (which would be 15k-22k €) I would choose probably a 5-door Citroen C4 2.0.
