    bye bye GTO

After 2006, the Pontiac GTO is getting pulled off the market due to its extremely slow sales. Its brother, the Holden Monaro is not getting discontinued though...I personally liked the Monaro better than the GTO. The GTO could reincarnate in 2009 sharing the Camaro platform (ya!). For now, RIP.

Not when it's wrong. The Monaro has been discontinued, with HSV securing a very small production run for HSV GTOs and VXRs (UK). The old V-platform is pretty much at the end of its life with the Zeta-chassised VE Commodore being released most likey late this year, probably going into production first half of next year. That's why the fugly US GTO is no more

.. of some significance this 2009 'Camaro platform' is likely to be a model derivative of Holden's new-for-2006 Commodore VE

Holden should concern you, as they have had a MAJOR part in developing the Zeta platform underpinning the Camaro and any RWD (excluding Caddy most likely) cars GM plans to sell. And they are actually turning a profit

Maybe he meant AS Holdens, as theyre given the Vauxhall badge. Thats a Chimera in that badge right?

TWG also plan on importing HSV's and setting up a tuning arm in the UK as well, now the munro supply's stopped.

I think TWG is going for is official HSV imports. There are a fair few websites with groups of people with HSVs in the UK. Heaps of VXs, especially GTSs, and a Maloo or two and a couple of VTs IIRC

I would even say the Zeta is VE and that is holden Zeta is just some dum GM name.

Deja vu pervades because TWG began HSV back in 1988 and I still recall the optimistic tone in the local media of the day as they proudly reported of Mr Wankinshaw's mooted plans to export HSVs back to Old Blighty for retail sale

That was eighteen years ago and not much has changed

I don't think it is gone forever. I heard it will be gone for a year becaues they are moving the plant form Australia over to America.
