Is the Porsche 993 the best?

I am now very close to buy a Porsche 993 Cabrio - all who I am talking to assure me that this model is Porsche's best.
Is this really the case and if so, why?

What do you want the car to do for you ?
The Cabrio 911s are never the "best" handling/performance as they lose some rigidity and gain some weight

I'm not really a fan of the 993's looks, I like the 964 better. Definately wouldn't buy a Cab one

Pretty amazing... How can you prefer the 964 rather than the 993??!

The 993 is the last air cooled, and from what I've been reading lately, the build quality on the later ones went down. So I guess you could say the 993 is the best. "Best" is totally subjective, though. Here, have some inspiration...

I just like it's design over the 993. I reckon it's ther best of the old style 991

ok. Personally I think the 964 is the ugliest 911 ever made, and the 993 one of the nicest. Although the 964 Turbo 3.6 is really awesome

There's a few really nice 964s doing the rounds in Canberra. I just think a base 964 looks better than a base 993, and there's some great kits for 964s around that make them look awesome.

But not the Cabrio as suggested.

My personal preferences is against the Cabrios I dont' think any of them look right. If I really wanted open air ( unlikely in Scotland ) I'd go targa at most

    I'd get a 993 over a 964 or a 996. I'm with Matra though, I'd definately take a coupe.

The 993 is the best looking 911. The 964 looks old and cheap somehow. The 996 is too fat. But with the 997, Porsche made it again as how it should be.
