No egg-nog and you might as leave UCP!

Very nice looking car there. The 1.5GLX is supposed to be the best to drive. Let us know how the first drive goes. I really like the Swift, stands out from crowd (for now)

yep the 1.5 GLX is the top of la range! It is extrememly good to drive and the 1st drive went very well...and the 2nd and the 3rd...now done over 100 first drives lol...HAD IT SINCE MARCH

The blue I have certainly stands out, they do some bright orange one aswell lol...was considering it, but then opted for the blue cos my first car was blue so i thought it would be a tribute to it

Cool car! Not a bad choice for an everyday car. Too bad we don't get these cars in the states.

I reckon these look pretty cool, though everyone new one I see in Canberra several weeks later has new wheels

Quicker in a straight line than a Mini One and cheaper but I'd argue that it's nowhere near as good. My Dad's got a Mini One Diesel that he uses for driving instruction, the handling's so good and the torque is so accessible with the 6 speed 'box that I'd say with the roads around these parts, the Swift wouldn't get close.

Yes, the Mini only has 75BHP but it has 125lb/ft torque, which goes a little way to overcoming the lack of power. Where it really shines though is through the corners. Even considering the relatively heavy diesel engine in the front of the Mini, I've never managed to make it push wide in corners yet. You can really attack them with confidence, I've never seen this in a standard supermini (i.e. One that's not a "sports" version) and it's so stable too. I've kept it in a straight line on roads that would send average cars bouncing off of every bump.

I really think that if you were to take the two cars from Matlock to Buxton (commonly used by bikers because of the fun and challenging roads), the Swift would trail the Mini.

For other reasons I think the Mini's such a good car, I'll make a thread soon with a review of the Mini One D, but this is just an insight into the car. It really is a cracking machine.

Having said that, The new Suzukis are bloody good for the money, just not in the same market as the Mini, which is a sort of "premium" supermini. Suzuki really are now producing their best range of cars ever - they're becoming interesting. Far removed from the old Swift. Let's hope they can make their cars as well as they make their bikes...

@Above: The Mini One Diesel is just way to slow, I had one for testing and it just ain't no fun. Yes you can corner it quite well at higher speeds, but you never reach those higher speeds...

It is a car that gives the driver a lot of confidence, but I don't now if that's a really good thing. It should need a better diesel engine (90bhp should probably do) and then it will be a quite fun car to have.

But in the end, the Mini One is made for girls, so actually, it's a car that probably puts a smile on his costumers. Friend of me has the Cooper S version with at the moment 204,6bhp (should manage to get 225/230bhp) and even without that power, it's just a total differant car.

I never drove the Suzuki swift, but I'm 99% sure, it's a lot more fun than a One D even when it drive's slower, at least, you have some noise when you rev it. And it probably feels a lot more agressive to.

So @ the TS: Nice car!
