The guy is a bit of a genious with engines, but like all these other engineers (Lee Noble, are you listening?) should stay well away from styling.

As Morgan proved, if you can't afford a "proper" designer - get some student to do it on the cheap. Some of them are really quite good.

Looks more TVR than Marcos to me.

Sorro to gp against the grain, but other than that 'Hi, I'm a quasi-ricer and I can't afford to paint this bit yet but I'm going to fit it on the car anyway' bonnet bulge - I actually quite like it.

I'd be really interested to see the are end - but I can't download that video or find any pics.

    Great name too

Does anyone know the dimentions of the car?

Judging by the looks of it from the video, it's not a particularly big car. I would say maybe a little bit bigger than a TVR Sagaris or a Marcos. Definitely not full blown supercar size like a Merc SLR or Carrera GT for example.

From what I can tell Melling doesn't have an official website with info on, which would be very useful.

As for whether I like the car or not, I'm a little undecided. It looks OK (although the colour scheme is not particularly exciting), but it seems to be a bit of a pastiche of a number of different independent British sportscars. There is definitely a hint of the new Marcos GT2 in there, and the front lights remind me a bit of both the TVR Speed 12 and also T350c. In the shape of the 'cockpit' with that wrap around front screen there is more than a hint of the Bristol Fighter. And the rear end styling reminds me of the Invicta S1. It's not a particularly bad looking thing, but it won't win any awards for originality in the styling department.

The engine appears to be an absolute beast though, and it'd be interesting to see if any other bigger companies show an interest in it. 700bhp V10 in an Aston Martin anyone?

Isn't it a bit heavy then for its size?

Well I don't know what the official weight of the car will be, but Pistonheads.com suggested that 1200kg would be roughly what it will weigh. That's not very heavy in my book. It's a little heavier than a TVR for example, but like I said it does seem a little chunkier than a TVR, and the engine is pretty gargantuan too. What weight figures have you heard quoted for it?

No I read 1200kg too, but for a smallish fully carbonfibre car, isn't it a bit let's say overweight, rather than heavy (of course 1200kg isn't heavy on my book either ). I mean Pagani manages 1230kg on a biger car with a bigger engine and Koenigsegg even lighter with 1180kg quoted for the CCX. And the TVR's might be smaller by they are not made out of carbonfibre, but you're right that the engine might compensate for this, though I don't know to what extent.
