Maybe if I lived where it didn't rain all of the time and had extra money to burn I would get one. So probably in about 10 years.
Dick: Marie de Salle's playing. You remember I told you about her. I like her. She's kind of Sheryl Crow-ish crossed with a post-Partridge Family pre-L.A. Law Susan Dey kind of thing, but, you know, uh, black.

I'd buy one, if I had the money and if I had two cars (at least) and if I lived in England (I doubt those thing are imported over here). Too many ifs I think...

I love it But I'd rather have a Lotus 340R, it looks even better than the Atom!

The Lotus 340R was many, many times slower than this however. The Atom I believe is actually cheaper than the 340R was when the Lotus came out too. If I recollect correctly, both hover around the £30k mark. But yes, the 340R looks nicer. But then you don't really buy these things for looks, you buy them for performance. IMO the Atom is one of the best cars available, performance-to-£ wise. Infact I think it's one of the best cars available performance wise fullstop.

Can't drive that on the streets here but I'd love to have one nonetheless.

Maybe just trailer it from track to track.

It's like a mini formula-car, really these are street-legal in Europe???

If this is street legal than why did the Lotus Elise have such a hard time passing safety requirements before it was available for sale here?

I actually remember seeing this thing a few years ago parked in a showroom in Bellevue...
edit: it was at a wheel-and-tire place, IIRC

It's technically sold as a kit car in the States I believe, so it avoids all the full type approval regulations that the Elise had to meet. The rolling chassis and engine come seperately and then get mated together in the States, similar to what happens with the Nobles that are sold over there.

I see, kits have it good that way.

I just had a thought, nah, If it were that easy many who keep out of the American market would have already done it. I was thinking why don't TVR for example sell some cars as kits. Offer up a rolling chassis with your choice of locally available engines, maybe even offer some TVR crate-engine sold separately. But yeah, if it was that simple they'd already be doing it...
