    mate, i'm not even sure they have roo's on the other end of Australia. I heard a rumour that people live there, but that remains unconfirmed. at any rate, no way a kombi would make it

    Why not? Just strap a window AC at the back, put curtains to block out the sun and pray and tyres keep up.

    Let me tell you that a 80 's Porsche (944 ?) had a VW transporter engine

    Just get a lot of tires and extra shock absorbers and you'll get through it...
