On most circuits, the CGT would win. The SLR has easy handling if you're driving around town, but not on a race track. The CGT has proven itself faster than the SLR around the Nurburgring.

CGT easily, with that sort of weight advantage the SLR would be left behind.

i agreee, the CGT is more "racer", IMO mercedes always makes more luxurius cars for pleasant driving. The other xtreme would be the Enzo, without radio or electric windows, is only to drive fast, and in the middle is the CGT, fast and agresive but usable every day. IMO is the same with Mercedes, Audi and BMW, BMW is the most agressive and fun to drive, audi more serious with AWD, and mercedes...well, you know.

The McLaren SLR is fast... it posted 1:20.37 or something like that as TG's best time.

    The Carrera GT made 1:19.9.

So it's negligible... but I would personally place my benjamins on the Carrera GT.

Well .. i used to think the GT was faster.

Until i saw Top Gear.. tested on a larger track.. gt was left behind by .5 seconds.

I wouldn't class the CGT as 'usable every day' in the same way that an F430, 911 or 599GTB would be. o <- that's the actual size of the clutch in a CGT, so despite the fact that you would get used to it I think you'd find yourself spending an awful lot of money replacing it if you used it to commute.

I'd take the Carrera GT. It's definately more track oriented and the SLR looks a bit more fat and sluggish (although still just as fast).

Was this FerrariPrinze or something? Banned on first post makes it seem very likely

Highly likely, us lot are sad enough for spending our time yapping about cars on here - imagine what kind of a life you must have to have to come on the internet and beef at people!

The CGT is faster, but I'd have an SLR given the choice.
