New sound system for my car.

Just today I got a new sound system for my Pointer GTi. It's a BIG improvement over the sorry factory system it had. It's not gonna win any contests, but it's fidelity is excelent, loud enough to leave me deaf and has more than enough bass for my taste, no need for a sub-woofer or amp:

The sterio is a SONY Xplod CDX-GT200. The box says:
    - 52Wx4 Max output power
    - Drive-S: High sound quality chasis
    - MP3/WMA/ATRAC3plus playback
    - Front AUX Portable audio input (plug in the iPod!!)

Front door speakers are also SONY Xplod XS-GF1621X:
    - 6 1/2 inches
    - 40W (peak 170W)

Rear Speakers, SONY Xplod XS- GT6937X
    - 6x9 inches
    - 100W (peak 350W)

I drove around for a few hours after the install today and was really happy with the sound. Makes dealing with daily traffic a whole lot nicer. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

What's the RMS rating of the head unit? That's the number that really matters, because the max power number is always beefed up by marketing.

Not like it really matters, but you bought speakers that can handle WAY more power than the unit puts out, probably just costing you too much.

    Looks good, installing it yourself?

wow! That is a nice system...but no subs? Without subs you don't attract that much attention. Sony isn't the best though, I like Alpine, Kenwood(my favourite!), Pioneer and Rockford Fosgate.

I'll have to check the owners manual to tell ya what the RMS rating is. I'll do it tomorrow.

EDIT: Here is the info on the RMS plus other things: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-G3sQHoq...300&I=158GT200

The entire thing was $350.00 USD with installation included.

Thanks. The speakers give more than enough bass to keep me entertained, I didn't get subs cuz I don't wanna call atention to myself. As long as I enjoy the music, who cares if they hear me 3 blocks away.

Man, my amplifier, 12" sub, and box cost well over $500 ALONE . Everything put together in my car came to just over $1075.

You're right. I'm not looking to get attention because of my sterio. I just wanted to a system that sounded very well.

To each his own I always say. If you spent $1,075.00, it's because that's what you wanted and you enjoy it.
