    Global Warming

Global Warming, what do you think about it?

Well, it has affected the planet in negative ways by changing the weather and it's not gonna get any better any time soon. I don't wanna sound like some fanatical tree hugger, but we do have to find a way to reverse it's effects before we do so much damage, that we won't be able to reverse it.

I hope we can find a clean fuel that also lets us keep making the high perf cars we all love.

The jury is still out on which is having the larger effect, the sun which is hotter now than ever recorded, or greenhouse gases.

more like its still unknown what effect humans are having and how much of the temperature change can be atributed to the natural changes of the Earths temperature. Its been recorded in the past that temperatures can change quite quicky when the planet move's out of ice ages. Ice core samples have shown that temperatures can change a few degrees in just a few decades. I'm not saying the none of the global warming affects can be linked to human activity but its impossible to say which part of the change is caused by humans or natural proccesses.

If you've seen the Top Gear on the Koeniggsegg CCX, it makes something like 806hp on petrol, and 950(ish)HP on alternative (I think ethanol or something)!!! Why can't other companies do that?

And about the SUV's, I think perhaps the people who hate them should drive behind an 18-Wheeler. There are soooo many, and every time they shift/brake/accelerate whatever it is they do, you can SEE the sludge go into the air. I'd say those are posing a bigger problem than supercars/SUV's. Just my $0.02

your right about 18-Wheelers burning black smoke into the ai,r but not all of them do this, most modern ones burn much cleaner then older models. I usually ony see older dump trucks with this problem.

By the end of this year ultra low sulphur diesel fuel will be implemented for all diesel engines model year 2007 and on in USA...the days of nasty truck smoke are numbered. The current fuel will be phased out, it'll be a few years though.

Scienific American had a news article about diesel from bitumus coal which is lower in both Sulphur and NOx emissions than "low Sulpher diesel".

Hadn't been financially viable till oil prices sustained US$50/barrel

You do understand that in the US there are three grades of diesel motor fuel:

High Sulphur- approved for off road use.
Low Sulphur- used in current on road vehicles.
Ultra Low Sulphur- just now in the fuel supply for future.

So did you mean Ultra low or Low?
