I'd go and take a look at that 535. Or maybe look for another 5-series. I can't recommend specifics because I don't know how to calculate running costs for an australian car. I have no idea how taxes are, are they fixed or based upon engine size or what ? The same for insurance.

Don't stare yourself blind on the initial cost of the car. But do make sure that you get the running costs calculated correctly and that you're sure you can pay for them. Initial purchase is nothinh compared to running costs as you have probably learned by now.

I wouldn't get anything with an auto box. Autos are..meh.

    Yes there are. In the E24 chasis Alpina produced the B2 (3-litre 230bhp), the B7 Turbo (3/3.5-litre 250-320bhp), the B7S Turbo (3.5-litre 330bhp), the B9 (3.5-litre 245bhp) and the B10 (3.5-litre 261bhp).

    More info here.

    That's another story. I meant they aren't called 635's.

You mean use gear oil, just don't sell the car to anyone who can smell the difference.

It does the same job of temporarily hiding a worn engine. But if you have special "I'm a con-man with a ****ed engine" oil then use that, its probably cheaper.
