    Modified/Custom Car...?

Ok, you have an unlimited budget (but let's keep things on planet earth) with which to create a car of some kind. I'd like to hear what you would use as a base, how you would change the inside and outside, engine mods/transplants, intended purpose and so on. Let your imagination run wild!

This is mine to kick things off: McRae's Mk1 Escort, but since my dream has already been done here's another...

M3 CSL as a base car, but seam-welded and completely re-skinned in carbon fibre with a sorted motor... I'd probably give it to Millington and say something like "do your worst". I'd get rid of that gearbox and fit a synchro' ringed manual and a posh motorsport pedal box. The exterior would identical to the standard CSL.

On the inside I would probably keep the seats, but it would have an alcantara covered roll-cage, with (if it's possible) one of those CLK DTM-style carbon harness anchor bars, and harnesses of course! I'd also have one of those Bond DBS helmet boxes made to go where the rear seats were.

I'd also keep all the carpets and what-not so it wouldn't be a full-blown race car, and I wouldn't go berzerk with the engine.... maybe 450bhp with the emphasis on delivery.

Some kind of BBS motorsport wheel too... maybe some compomotives... mmm.

    Go...

I told Sam about my mad projects in another thread time ago, I'm the matser of mad projects with old cars , they are as follows:

-Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV with a 3750cc supercharged Autodelta engine
-Original Mini Cooper with a 1380cc supercharhged BMC engine
    -'68 Dodge Charhger R/T with a 528c.i. V8 Hemi and a Tremec 5-speeder
-MG B chromed bumper with a 5.2-litre V8 Rover engine

Maybe later I'll go into more detail.

    1969 Chevelle
Outside, either a deep blue metallic or deep red metallic, no modifications except for a cowl hood and a set of huge slicks in the rear and skinny ones up front
Inside, tubs in the back to make room for the slicks, polished aluminum panels, basic gauges, racing seat, full roll cage powdercoated black.

Engine, a race prepped 540ci big block pushing about 1000hp, 2 spd powerglide

Drag racing mainly, some shows and the occassional weekend romp.

Hmm i would get a Wrx STi, tweak it to wround 370-400 using ECU, Intake and exhaust tuning and icreasing the boost on the turbo a bit. Then put some nice big brembos on it to go with the power and mabye get a new suspension if the old one isn't working well with the power, then throw in a short shifter and im done! hehehe.

Or mabye an S2000 with a custom hard top, rollcage (for scca events) improved brakes, horse power raised to 300 and again suspension tuned to liking oh look over 2000 posts

I would take the last Mazdaspeed Miata, before the new model, and turn it into a GT/Coupe. I don't think they will ever build it as it would definitely hurt Rx8 sales, but the Rx is not so cool, and a Miate GT would rock.

    First Off great thread

I would Get a C5 corvette with a forged bottom end and twin turbos say twin 50 trims. I would also want the car to have a 33 gallon tank like the old vette race cars. Lighten the car up put a DVD Navigation system and a Roll cage in the car and change the rear end so it can cruise at about 140 with still getting mid 20 mpg. It would be the ultimate Gumball Car.

    Another car
69 nova painted in a deep blue or a light red. The engine will be a 612Ci Pontiac Big Cheif like in the corvette on pinks. The engine will have a 2 stage nitrous setup 175 shot off the line 275 shot down the track. Fully street legal with a radio and a/c. This car will be a 10.5 tire car I belive its called the outlaw series.

Yes, it is a good thread. I would have a Subaru Impreza Coupe, 22B and add the "modest" power boost (intercooler, turbo, exhaust and whatnot), keep the outside shell the same, add a roll cage for rigidity purposes, buckets and harnesses, and have an adjustable suspension so I can change it on the fly from a road setup to a rally setup. Throw in a couple sets of road slicks and studded tires too for the rally romp and you're set!

I would have had the hardtop S2000 if it wasn't mentioned before though. I'd love a supercharged Spoon S2000 hardtop!

And BTW, I'm close to 1000 posts.

Good timing on the thread, goes good with a chop i'm working on.. 2006 Dodge Charger SRT-8, with a custom body kit, shorten the car up a bit and make it a two door, some racing-style rims, adjustable suspension, and throw a Viper V-10 in it with its 6 speed manual. All that with a custom metallic orange paint. Loosely based on the BMW M3 GTR.

Since I'm a huge Bimmer fan, here goes mine...

An E38 7-series (the one before the current model) in either:
    1) Charcoal or Pewter Grey exterior
    2) Jet Black

and equip it with an E39 M5's 40v V8 tuned by Dinan ala the S2 package (approx 470bhp from a naturally aspirated engine... there's a 600+ supercharged version as well called the S3-M5... but i prefer the S2), and then put huge slotted brakes front/rear... maybe sixteen inches front and fourteen inches in the rear, and put on a pair of BBS wheels ( i think they're called the LM's)... the "eyes are the window to the soul" headlamps from the last generation 5-series and the interior is of course bucket seats up front, the dash, pillar and the roof liner out of alcantara and last but not least a sick pair of Flowmaster or Magnaflow exhauts... James Bond style baby... but only better!

Either a Mazda RX-8 with all the Mazdaspeed accesories and a Mazda 787B engine, roll cage, 6-speed manual short throw triple plated clutch tranny, or a Vette with a C6 R engine and all the goodies on it
