Big Surprise... Ford sales drop again!

well ADRENALINE wont like this news... but Ford July U.S. Sales Drop 34.2%.

Ford Motor Co. The second largest U.S. automaker, said Tuesday that its July U.S. sales fell 34.2% compared to the year ago period, hurt by sharp declines in sales of most products, particularly trucks. Ford blamed tough comparisons to July 2005, when the automaker had offered employee prices under the Ford Family Plan to all customers and posted record sales for the month, for the drop in sales.

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker said it sold 241,339 vehicles in July, down 34.2% from 366,548 vehicles sold in the year-earlier period.

Total U.S. car sales for July declined 7.0% to 89,395 units from 96.143 units a year ago, while total U.S. truck sales dropped 43.8% to 151,944 units from
    270,405 units last year.

Sales of Ford's F-Series truck, America's best selling vehicle for 29 years in a row, dropped 45.6% to 68,982 units in July from 126,905 units a year ago.

Ford also said it will introduce two all-new crossover utilities, the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX, later this year.

With gasoline the price it is currently and with no attractive non-truck offers, sales will continue to drop further.

    34%!!!! Thats massive!

Ford needs to introduce alot more small cars. All I hear about the focus is that it doesn't cut it. Ford NA needs to look at the european Fords as they have plenty of smaller cars that don't guzzle the gas. And why don't they bring in the Euro focus?? *screams*

i have also just read tonight that FORD is considering selling off some of its non-profitable brands.

and that Toyota (i think it was) has out sold FORD for the first time in June.

The world is coming to an end

Ford should sell off Mercury and possibly Jag. No matter how hard they try, Jag still seems to be heading South.

Ford should keep Lincoln (They have a few nice models coming soon)

As for every other brand they just need to try harder!!

I'm not surprised that Toyota is beating them.

Supposedly we're (NA) getting the euro focus next year. Am I wrong on this one? Personally, I'm not worried if Ford isn't the biggest auto seller in the world. It would be nice if they were healthy, though.

Ford havent been the biggest in like...80 years or so? (I think)

From the spy shots I've seen the Focus update still looks like the current body shape.

Actually that does surprise me. I believe that Ford has arguably the best lineup of the Big Three, although Chrysler's been putting out some interesting products of late too. If I had to pick one for a sales decline, I'd have forecast GM to have it.

Well ...I think the main prob with the Ford Trucks is their PRICE!!!! I paid less for a rental house than my truck.

I'm not sure, but I think Ford outsold Chevrolet in 1959. This would have made Ford the biggest-selling auto company in the world for that year.
