    VQ35DE Nissan engine

    First One

Any-one here got one of these. I'm interested in the following information:

Weight (fully dressed) lb or Kg
NISMO performance goodies (I can't see any)

I understand this engine is also in the Maxima and the
Nissan Pathfinder 4X4 if that helps.

    Any weekend racers say Hi

P.S. Surprised it took so long for the message board

I do have one of these in the Infiniti G35 Sedan, otherwise known is the V35 Skyline in the Nissan country....though I have no idea on the weight and such. Try to get some info on those at www.freshalloy.com which is a Nissan/Infiniti site with many useful stuff and a huge Nissan enthusiast forum....

BTW, the engine is in the following N. American cars:
    Nissan:
    Maxima(02-now)
    Altima(02-now)
    350Z
    Pathfinder(02-now)
    Murano

    Infiniti:
    G35 Coupe/Sedan
    I35 Sedan(02)
    FX35
    QX4(02)

As far as aftermarket goes, Nismo make specific things for certain cars, they have muffler for 350Z and G35, and they also make a race motor for the 350Z in the JGTC series. But outside of Nismo, there are some stuff available and are probably swappable between models. Right now 350Z has intake/exhaust kit available that's not going to help much in VQ's FWD application, and there are also Turbo kit available for 350. Stillen makes supercharger kit for the motor, but I don't know what model might fit it....

Any others ? ( No responses on other sites of posted to)

Surely there is a racing series these compete in (other than JGTC).

Try these links for now. I'll get more if I can. I do online research as a job, so I should find something in time. Thank God for multitasking!

There was a VQ30DE based motor in the Grand Am series for the SR2 car, the engine I believe have also been used in a Pilbeam in 675 trim making a good deal of 500bhp....naturally aspirated...

Just found out about the weight of this engine. Just so you know it's only a liggle (40lbs) lighter than the 5.7L Corvette engine. Work that one out.

I didn't know the VQ35DE is in the maxima or pathfinder. I only new it from the 350Z. Do you have this engine? If so in what?

I don't have the engine. I live in blighty and was (past tense, not going to bother now), going to use the engine in a kit car. Lack of availability has killed that plan.

You should have tried a VQ38DETT or a RB26DETT. Two great engines. Then theres always the SR20 for smaller vehicles.

Those two engines are OK. But I think you'd be rather surprised at how much they weigh. I'd rather get my power without turbos.

(I had actually considered them as options)

Anyway; can close this link now.
A big THANKYOU all that responded.

    yeah

I'm 14 and am thinking about buying a VQ35DE to modify and then just drop it into a Z when i turn 16. Where would be the best place to get one or should i get a different engine and then just do a swap?

    er... buy a Z?

A Z might not be a good idea for a first car, RWD + 300hp= potential trouble.

As for me, I'm thinking of a Volvo 740 as my first car, but only if it doesn't drink gas like there's no tomorrow.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
