They top out at 170? dang I thought I'd maxed the old girl out, and I can't try again for a few years till the points go off my DL for fear of losing it. Edit old girl refers to Explorer not my mother.Originally Posted by mclaren_crazy

230 km/h in my Ford Cortina Mark III (estimated, speedometer only marked to 200 km/h)

140 mph in my old audi s3, on a private track in fife.

150 in my 04 Sti on a stretch of bumpy-ass Arkansas interstate. I had to hit V-max at some point. It came up quick and hit the rev limiter like a wall; rock steady throughout despite the poor road surface.

Hmm, my vr4 is getting pretty wound up at that speed, and in 5th gear. Last week I cruised for nearly a half hour at 120mph (264kph for all you euro wanna be-s) through the desert at about 6a.m., and I helped it out on the downhills some, it might go 150 at best. Eventually I hit 130-135 mph, but why wring it out when its so fresh?.-BUTOriginally Posted by mehrshadvr4
Before all that, when I lived in Germany, (1986-1990) I had a '74 ford granada wagon (factory stock) that had a small v6 with dual carbs and airplane gears, and I cruised to work every day at about 120mph easily.
The fastest I have been was in a '57 chevy station wagon which had the back doors chopped out to look more like a nomad, it ran a 4bolt 350/4spd, and at 140mph and 14 years old, i knew I was going to die.
heh heh cool im a novice
Thanks for this brilliant piece of information.Originally Posted by bricker

Runner up: 120 in '73 Mach 1
Unknown speed in one of my Dad's former co-worker's Saleen Mustang. Who says IBM employees can't have fun
Others:
-110 in my '68 Mustang with 302 (had some legs to go still, but I had no reason to)
-105 in '00 Focus with 16v, where the limiter was (wouldn't have gone much faster anyway, it struggled to accelerate after it hit 90)
-90 in my 5.9/360ci Magnum powered Dodge van...with aerodynamics like a drag chuted brick, it didn't want to go much more.

190kph (fifth gear) on stock honda odyssey v6 with other 5 people + luggages in the car. And still can go faster than that. Top speed 215kph. . God mercy on me..
FYI: 105kph (second gear) for stock honda odyssey v6.

Pfft. Second gear in the LS1 Calais would be rather a lot, (at least 120-130kmh) seeing as though redlining at 6000rpm in 1st is just over 80kmh
I was going through the thread and I came across your post, sorry for such a late reply. And no it doesn't have a limiter, just that at 210km/h the cars starts losing it fight with the air. I suppose it could go a little bit faster but you'd need a pretty long strech of straight and clear motorway...Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen

120 mph in a GMC Denali could have done 150 easily
I hit 110mph in the dakota passing out a big rig.
