I said to my mum i wonder if his last words were Crikey!.

Many people had shots at him for being over the top when what he was was very passionate about what he did. And he showed it wasn't hiding it, Great guy very good family man also. He really got Australia out there Steve Irwin was as popular overseas as Nicole kidman and Russell crowe.

If not more so, the two you mentioned are severly over rated and have had thier fair share of bad publicity because of thier arrogance (russel crowe) and other stereotypical hollywood bravada.

Those where my first thought exactly... All the best to his family. He wasn't very known over here although I did watch the show now and then. I'll miss it for sure...

R.I.P Steve Irwin. People like Steve Irwin make life worth living. He was such a great person to watch on T.V. Many people did feel happy when they were watching Steve's television shows or at least Steve entertained many people and he made a significant contribution to wildlife and nature in general. I hope Steve Irwin is in Heaven now... wrestling crocodiles and aligators. Steve will be sadly missed.

He should've died through a croc-related incident, not underwater as Scuba Steve I have never ever been this saddened at a celebrity death.

He came dancing across the water

In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

I class them as Australians. I think you can't be raised fully into a country schooled with our values our ways etc and be classed as from overseas. Just because you were born somewhere else but tort a different way.
Both made there names as Aussie guys. And whilst Russel seems to class himself as a Aussie that was born in NZ. Mel looks at it differently. I'm a American that grew up in Australia.

The reports I read said stingrays normally aren't this deadly, but because this one got Steve near the heart, he got ol' Steve.

My only wish is that it killed him instantly, and he didn't suffer though this guy most likely would gave managed it anways. After all, he did have surgery unsedated once on TV.

Yeah but 'rays don't kill humans. It's happened 3 times before. The ray shouldn't have taken a swipe at him in the first place.
