California sues Manufacturers for being the cause of global warming

    http://money.cnn.com/2006/09/20/news...ion=2006092013

"California sued six of the world's largest automakers over global warming Wednesday, charging that greenhouse gases from their vehicles have caused billions of dollars in damages."

The manufacturers are unavailable for comment, as they are too busy trying to hold their sides together.

There is so much wrong with the idea, it would be a waste of my time to even begin.
    Thanks for all the fish

    I wish California would:
    A) Fall into the ocean already.
    B) Seceed from the union.
    C) Have terrible mudslides, earthquakes, and infestation of illegal Mexicans.

I still don't know why governments only pick on automobile manufacturers, when airplanes and boats/ships probably create just as much, if not more, pollution. Oh yea, money.

My god this is stupid. So they're bitching that cars are too polluting, but how are car companies going to develop better cars when they're paying millions and millions to California? This is just a political stunt. Nothing more, nothing less.

hmm. no the real question is how do you think that they get to work every morning and how do they think they got the lawsuit through, og thats right they probally drive and they probally get dropped of in a mail truck. and why does just california get to sue shouldnt it be like the united nations suing because it does just as much damage in the middle of no where because gas spreads as it does in the most densley populated areas. damn its like when the guy broke into some old ladys house broke his arm and sued her.

I think he has more than that. Something I read a while back said he had 9 H1's and 6 H2's.

With the assets that the automakers have, I'm sure they could pool together to get the world's best lawyers. Frankly, I'm not worried.

They wouldn't need the world's best lawyers for that, the chicken guy from Futurama could defend them and win.

You all know you'd be screwed without them providing your economy with cheap labour.

The U.S. got along fine 50 or 60 years ago without them. They cost the state of California alone $5 billion a year (education, health, social programs, etc).

Several hospital emergency departments have closed in my area because the illegals treat them like doctor's offices (the law states that anyone who walks into an emergency room must be treated whether they can pay for it or not).
They go to these emergency rooms, can't or won't pay for the treatment they receive and the hospital has to absorb the cost which in some instances, forces them to close.

Yeah, those illegals are real "helpful."

Don't forget that the majority of them send money they make back to relatives in Mexico so that doesn't help the U.S. economy at all.

There is absolutely no reason to have the 12+ million illegals in the U.S. Those we need for labor should come here legally. The U.S. government should have clamped down on illegals 20 years ago.

If you were to compare what illegals "contribute" to the U.S. economy and what they take, you will discover that it is anything but "cheap" labor... it costs the U.S. a considerable amount.
