And it's the GEN 4 V8, whatever that means. My guess would be the L76... the LS2 has pumped out at least 400bhp in each car that it has been placed in.

It is the L76, only HSV uses the LS2

LS2,L76,L98 etc - all different variations on GenIV 6.0L V8 - the LS2 being the best.

I don't know i have herd of some pretty good things from the L76. Match it up with the LS2 on power and it will eat it for torque.

L76? WTF do you mean? It's LS2, because the original VE has an LS2 engine. Duh! And by the way, if anyone wants it, choose it!

No, only HSV have recieved the LS2. The LS2 is GM's basic 6L performance engine which debuted in the C6 Vette. Holden since 2006 have used the L76, which is a 6L variant of the Gen4 family of engines designed for use in pickup trucks. As such it has top end power sacrificed for some more low end torque.

Thanks fpv_gtho for the information, because I got confused between the L76 and the LS2. The VE actually does use a LS2 Supercharger from Tom Walkinshaw Performance, located in Croydon in Melbourne's suburbs.

I thought the LS1 all wheel drive HSV's used a Supercharger too boost power.
But I'm sure tom has quite a few superchargers getting around now.
Someone has a VE SS single turbo already.

HPF has done one already, its runa 11.1 @ 129mph on street tyres . Those LSx motors really love a little boost.
