First and fore all, TVR 's are great cars, if you see them in real, you will agree.
Sitting somewhere on the flatlands in the US without seeing one, how can you judge?

Any such comments as - they are ugly - are useless and said without (second) thought.

Any TVR, whatever age, is a good salesitem. Put one for sale and it will be very quickly sold.

Hmm. People really like these TVRs. I suppose if I called the Cayenne ugly, nobody would care, but call a TVR ugly...

In addition to the 158 TVR production staff laid off so far, the last remaining TVR-only dealership in the UK - Gatwick TVR - has now gone into administration.

Looks like the "reorganisation" of the company continues to be a rip-roaring success.

What do you expect to happen if you exclusivly sell low volume unreliable cars built buy a company with a history of being on the brink of bankruptcy?

I have two probelms with that
    A) They aren't all unreliable. Just because the press cars are shit, doesn't mean they all are. They aren't the most reliable car ever, but hell, it's not a Volvo. Check out some TVR forums(fan clubs and such-admittedly biased) or track down some owners, yes they have a relativley high percentage of lemons, but as you said they are low volume so a high percentage doen't mean that you can justify calling them all unreliable.
    1) There have been times when it was a financially sound(or almost sound) institution. Peter Wheeler did remarkably well with it, and didn't sell it because it was going to go bust he sold it because NS had plenty of money to spend-capitalism, meh.

Yes I used "A" and "1" they are of equal importance

Well, I seem to recall a few TVR dealers wanted to branch out and sell other marques, with which TVR apparently took issue, and as a result several dealers lost their franchises.

I don't think it is really fair to put the responsibility for the closure on the dealership. Being a specialist marque, most TVR owners tend to be very well informed about the company and the cars.

If you heard that the company you wanted to buy a £50,000 car from was either shutting down, moving, temporarily closing, not moving, etc., etc., would you really be desperately keen to put a deposit down when it is uncertain as to where and when your car would be built - if at all?

Still, I'm sure Smolenski's plan to sell 60 Typhoons in March (that's not a mis-type btw ) for £120,000 will completely reverse the companies fortunes. We all know, after all, that taking on the likes of Audi-backed Lamborghini, FIAT-backed Ferrari and Ford-backed Aston Martin for sales will not be a problem for a small independant manufacturer with a very dubious recent-history.

Especially when aforementioned company can't even sell more than a handful of cars at half the price at the moment.
    Thanks for all the fish

Seems to me that, the company has waaay too many hands in a bunch cookie jars. The company needs focus, a small volume manufacturer can't have 5 different lines of cars if it is struggling. they need to go back to their bread and butter which was the porsche boxster, BMW z4 market, and start selling drop tops with a v8. Hell that is what half of the people on PH want, so why not give it too them? Then at the same time keep the t350 or sagaris as your high end car. I don't see what the big problem is here, and why it is so hard to find a new goddamn factory!!!

The Tamora/T350/Sagaris are essentially different bodywork on the same chassis, and all of the cars share the same mechanical components.

It is quite a good strategy as you have a lot of shared components which keeps costs down, yet you have a wider range of cars that can appeal to a wider audience.

That was on the 3rd - the day the factory closed.

There's a similar large rally in London this Sunday (26th)

IIRC, it will be the largest gathering of TVRs in history. I wish I could fly over to bask in the gloriousness.

TVR's Blackpool factoryIs TVR about to be taken over?

Amid stories of the company's move of its production facilities to foreign shores comes a rumour that former workers at Jensen Motors, which sadly collapsed in 2002 before it could sell any of its £40,000 SV-8s, have bought the rights to the Speed Six-powered product line as well as all the cars currently stalled in production.

According to one local news outlet (see link below), the North West Development Agency is in talks with TVR and a buyer, as yet unnamed.

A meeting apparently took place this week somewhere in the south of England between the interested parties, according to the local TGWU convenor, and negotiations remain in progress. An announcement is expected within the week.

Keep your fingers crossed: maybe TVR will remain British after all.

    TVR takeover talks
Hope? Anything is better than Italy. Not that I have anything against Italy, just that TVR doesn't belong there.
