NYC Indymedia volunteer Brad WIll killed in attack by Paramilitaries in Oaxaca
Paramilitaries attacked the barricades near Oaxaca's office of justice, in the Calicanto municipality. There are sereveal injured and one person dead.
Indymedia New York's reporter, BRAD WILL, was shot in the chest and died before he made it to the hospital; Oswaldo Ramírez, photographer for Milenio Diario, has also been shot and is injured in the foot.
THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR ABOUT BRAD FROM A PERSON WHO WAS THERE WITH HIM:
- He was at the Santa Lucia Barricade
- He was shot from a distance of 30-40 meters right in the pit of the stomach
- It was urban paramilitary Priistas in plain clothes who shot him
- People then pulled him away to safety; its confirmed that he's dead; his body is at the red cross in oaxaca
- 3 additional dead (4 total); 1 member of radio universidad was injured, he went to the hospital in a volkswagen cuz no ambulances would come

the killer has been identified by name as pedro carmona, who with 4 other policemen and the minister for public security in santa lucia, have been taken into custody, although the mayor of santa lucia, did not mention where.
This is the first international journalist victim of the conflict in oaxaca, mexico, now reaching its 5th month of crisis. the issue itself is more than 20 years old,publicschool teachers have demanded more resources for schools in oaxaca, one of the poorest regions of the country. they had installed themselves in downtown oaxaca. then last june, the governor of oaxaca, ulises ruiz, sent thousands of police to "reclaim the city" and thus the people of oaxaca , (not just the teacher´s union) have organised themselves into an organisation called APPO, which has devoted itself to civil resistance in oaxaca, their goal being the destitution of governor ulises ruiz.
today, as response to the incident where Mr Will was murdered, Mexican president Vicente Fox has ordered the Federal Police into Oaxaca, and repression is imminent, bound to start in the next few hours. What i ask from people who read this is to please divulge this information to counter official reports of Oaxacan ordinary people actually shooting APPO members, the APPO being delinquents, and so on. protest against the brutally repressive Mexican government, which now could be considered a fascist state. This year alone there have been 3 more incidents where police was sent against the people.
