Was the HK the very first series of Monaro? (I'm no Holden historian )

Yep, I'm with you there. After the HT, they just don't have the same magic as the original body style. There's always a few tuff ones at the 'nats

The HK Monaro was 1968 Wheels Car of the Year, and a 1968 debut win at Sandown for the Monaro GTS 327 was followed by first (McPhee/Mulholland), second and third outright at Bathurst, the first of many Holden enduro victories to come.

I really like the old school GTS's some of my favorite muscle cars, cant seem to fine many pics of them tho. [Tip] when making a thread like this its good to give some info and pics so they know what your talkin about. Like i did in this post. [endTip]

    Great pics caz

In 1970 or '71 Peter Robinson of Wheels mag tested an HG model Monaro GTS 350, took it out to western NSW. HG is the final version of the HK/HT/HG 1st gen bodystyle. Robbo reported this was the first time he'd averaged 130mph on a public road, for maybe 20 minutes (iirc?) between towns

You're right, HQ Monaros are a terrific looking car. Here's some pics of a very tidy & original HQ GTS 350 coupe, in appealing metallic green

This stock looking HK Monaro (in the 327-exclusive Warwick Yellow colour) comes from my town - check the speeds!

Not really, I respect them espically when they are in mint nick there's a old holden around the corner looks very very old, Very clean. Some old chevs getting around and there a similar too the green one above you but yellow that gets about here with a big V8. But really i'm not a muscle car man too be honest i didn't really start too get into cars till i was well into my teens.
Actually I'm not a gigantic fan of V8's, They do produce the sweetest sound on earth and some massive torque and that can send chills up your spine, But i would rather a 6 Don't shoot me.
But that doesn't stop me from twisting my head off searching when i here a worked V8.
