Well, I don't think anyone's ever argued that Euro cars are more reliable than Japanese variants.

Weren't you the one who opposed consumer reports when they said the Corvette had poor reliability too?

with good reason...every owned one? they are absolute shit. Sure they are nice, good fit/finish, but the second the warranty ends, DUMP IT.

My mom had her E-430 for...4 years (from new)? and a week after the warranty ended the power steering went out, a few weeks later i think the a/c went out, and she sold it, then the poor guy who bought it had to spend some ridiculous amount on a new trans ($7,000? i forget)

So, thus I refer anyone looking for anything german, to Porsche, Audi and VW.

Duh, Consumer Reports has a crystal ball that tells them the future.

These figures are based on last generation models. CR has no idea what they're talking about.

My grandfather has had Mercedes-Benz' for years and he's never had any problem with them. He currently owns a S500 (previous model) and there is nothing wrong with it.

My Grandfather, who also lives in France, drives a 1990 Mercedes 190E 2.5TurboDiesel. It's shockingly awful... put your foot down it just clicks and does nothing until about 10secs later when the rev counter needle flies round, a lot of noise is made, but no progress. He mainly drives a petrol Peugeot Partner Combi when he hasn't filled it with diesel... He's currently looking to buy a Skoda Octavia vRS or a VW Passat 2.0TDI or a Honda Accord 2.2diesel

I have only had one Japanese car and never and never again. A friend of mine drives a Lexus and that turns out to be reliable and generally a very good car.
However, I stick with my Alfa.
