Wow. Huge pileup. That sucks.
Yowser!
That marshall in the dark coat was INCREDIBLY lucky not to be seriously hurt. In the slo-mo you can see him get his legs whipped out from underneath him, and then somehow manages not to get crushed against the armco.
Madness...

Race leader marshal should have called this off a long time before this happen..
Waaay to much rain and water on the track..
At least after the first crash with the Saleens...
Poor guys who don't get red flagged, and just keeps crashing and crashing..
Yeah I agree, you can see the puddles forming on the Track! Very bad decision, Just wandering is there a possible lawsuit there for the guy who lost his Saleens?Originally Posted by LotusLocost

Apparently it has only been raining substantially for about a lap.Originally Posted by LotusLocost
He was lucky the car hit the guardrail first and then slide forward and whip him from underneath him. Give or take a couple feet and yes, he would have been pinned.Originally Posted by Jack_Bauer

And all the other that escaped amazingly without any damage...
Spa looks like that all the time...except the spend a lot of time behind the safety car when it rains like that...

If the drivers feel that it is too dangerous or that they cannot keep control, they should pull off the track and stop - regardless of whether there is a red flag or not.
Shane Lynch is an arse. (Not for crashing, he's just an arse)
Thanks for all the fish

Race control/Clerk of the course are clearly at fault. Two cars in the barriers, marshalls over the fence trying to extricate drivers, water streaming across the track and all they are showing at the preceding point is double waved yellows. It is a clear safety car or better still Red Flag situation. Additionally it appears that some drivers did not see or heed the yellows, adding to the carnage. They appear to still be racing over the crest prior to the waved yellows, the preceding point to the waved yellows should have been showing stationary yellow indicating trouble ahead. For those of us who do or have raced (although not at that level) it's a reminder that we really owe the flag point marshalls a lot, to stand in the pissing rain and then risk your wellbeing for no monetary reward really speaks volumes for the kind of people they are.

That rain must have struck fast - most of those cars are still on slicks
