    Official 2006 UCP COTY awards

It's that time of year again, where all the Automotive magazines, TV programs and other various media have done their ponderous thinking to produce their list of the top 10 or so cars.

Since I have not come across UCP doing such a thing after many various searches, I came to the conclusion that I'll get one running on behalf of UCP. Someone can kindly take over if they wish!

    Things will work like this:

[Factors that should be considered: Performance, Looks, Cost, "X factor", Quality.]

-After a week has past, I will count out the nominations and pick out the top 10 most nominated cars, then will make a poll consisting of them. (Which also will be open for a week)

-After the process is complete, the list will be made.
    Get nominating!

For stuff to work, it has to be presented well, in a way that it looks pretty and catching, but is also organized so you want to take part in it.

If we actually do this right, we could make a UCPCOTY thing an annual tradition.

    Nominations
    Chevrolet Corvette Z06
    Porsche 997
    Volkswagen GTI

I think all variants of a model should be included together. IE, 997 Carrera, S, Turbo, GT3, etc. Otherwise we'll end up with a whole bunch of the same thing with a little difference.

    Isn't the Z06 a 2005 model?

    There's a 2006 model, too.

    And true enough, Mr Fella.

But it's totally unchanged. This award should only be availible to new or updated cars. Otherwise it's the car of last 2 years or 3 years ago award.

We need a coding genius to set up well thought out large poll for a knock-out type vote or something.

There was no 2005 model year Z06. So the Z06 is new for 2006, but the C6 platform isn't new anymore.

So then would the F430 count as a choice?

Just so its not all exotic and sports car on the list I'll nominate three:

    Holden Commodore VE
    Toyota Aurion
    Mazda CX-7

Also, keep in mind, what we're really voting on is a popularity award, since few of us will have actually driven the cars.
Perhaps, with that in mind, there needs to be an award for exotic/sports and one for more normal cars.

    My Picks

Holden Commodore SS: 0-100kmh in 5.2 and 13.4 1/4. Plus it's big and comfy and cheap.

BMW 335i: Cause the coupe looks really good compared to the sedan, a very good drive from what I've read and a good engine.

Mazda 3 MPS: Taking the hot hatch concept to the max. Plus it's pretty good value, and looks cool.
