    The Year's Best Game

As this year draws to an end, so does a generation of consoles. This year has spat out a few pretty good games so let's have it. The year of 2006, what do you think was the best game? State the game as well as the console (We aren't going to use handheld consoles and games). For '06, the eligible consoles are:
    -XBox
    -XBox 360
    -Gamecube
    -PS2

    Lets have your opinions!

The only new game I got this year that I've really been enjoying playing is NHL 2007 for PS2.

2004 actually. Released on December 28 in Japan and Hong Kong...2005 everywhere else :P
I would vote Gears Of War. No Halo or GTA releases (aside from the handheld...which just isnt THAT great). Gears of War really shone.

Well there can't be a "Best Game of the Year", I suggest we put it as "Best Games of the Year" and sort out the categories. And put PC in, it's the grandest father of electronic gaming so you can't just leave it out.

I nominate GTR2 (PC) for best driving game, Battlefield 2142 (PC) for best shooter game, F.E.A.R. Extraction Point (PC) for best Sci-Fi game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC, X360, and soon PS3) for best RPG game.

Also some special awards: NFS Carbon (All systems) for the easiest game, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (PC FPS version ONLY, not the console 3rd-person version) for being the hardest game.

you know the console version was FPS too right..... all you had to do was select the camera view option in the menu...lol

The thing is, PC version is completely different. The missions are different, the graphics are rendered on a different engine, gameplay's different, etc. The PC version is solely a FPS, with no other camera view available, and you do die in a couple of shots and there's no way to regain health or ammo during a mission, unless you pick up enemy ammos that only matches your gun or if you load up the last cheakpoint which would give you a tiny health boost. Sometimes the mission will lead you to a resupply point but that's only for ammo. You should try it, the console version's way too easy compared to this, and yes I've played that too. It gets much more strategic in the PC version, it's just a different game.
