I doubt that's worth it. The price difference is just too big. You're better off with a can of injector cleaner every few thousand km.

95% of the claimed responsiveness, fuel economy and whatnot is a placebo. Unless you have a modern engine with knock sensors. Which 90% of the cars do not have.

Does V-Power have a higher octane rating?

I wonder if it's available here in the states. I don't really notice Shell. I don't drive either, but that's another story.

I didn't really notice a lot of change in performance as I mentioned. Really, the difference in performance on any of these fuels is never going to be massive. The biggest effect you will notice in a normal car is improved economy, maybe a nicer revving engine. BTW the LS1 in the Calais is only tuned for 91RON ULP so adding 98 wasn't ever going to give a big performance boost.

Unless you compare it to 91RON or lower fuel maybe. But the minimum over here is 95 which is perfect for 90% of the engines out there.
Well the minimum here is 91. But more and more engines are being tuned for 98RON PULP. All Holden V8s are tuned on 98RON fuel and have their power figures quoted with 98. All turbo Subarus are designed to be run on 98. And correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC all VAG FSI engines need to be run on 98RON fuel.

In a old Auto,Motor und Sport issue they tested V-power. They put a VWGolf on a dynometer. They let it run 1000 km on different speeds, but a set programme. I think they found a 1,5% fuel economy gain and a 0,8% gain in perofrmance
