What I'm saying is that they've possibly added more weight, meaning handling on the limit will suffer. The uprated brakes will help track times, but reducing weight will see bigger gains. It's the key. The SRT-10 Coupe weighs 1,563kg, the Z06 weighs 1,421kg.

The Tuscan S (I'm comparing it because really it's the same type of car) weighs 1,100kgs and is quicker than them both (the new Viper is a third slower to 100) with a smaller, less powerful engine. Oh, and it handles.

If I were in charge of the development of the Viper I'd try to cut the weight down. Just swapping one material for another can be enough, you don't have to change the design of the car at all normally.

According some of the initial reports I have read the '08 Viper Coupe weighs 200 lbs. less than the current Viper.

That's if it's even real anymore. There's been absolutley no news on it. It's last big report was last year in Nurburgring.

I can't believe american manufacturers are still making bigger and bigger engines. Not just them in fact. Come on, gas prices skyrocketed last year, they went down I know, but darn it's still a 8.4 liter engine! Not to forget Earth seems tired of all that polution. As an exemple, it's the first time here in Quebec City that there was no snow on Christmas. First time in 399 years. Last year we had at least 3 feet of snow. And that was a calm year.

Oh well, enough for my green side, anyway I don't think a Viper is made to have a 1.4-liter hybrid engine. I like the design of the car at lot. It just look aggressive. 600 hp is just insane, not to mention the car is lighter than the current SRT10, if that rumor turns out to be true. Can't wait to see this face the Z06 or the "Blue Devil" if it is ever produced.

IF that's true, LNN.com should have included it in their article. IMO it's AS significant as the engine upgrades. Also, IF that's true, it should automatically make a LOT of difference to both the handling and the pace (which would go some way to explaining a 0-100-0 time of 12 seconds.

Sign of the apocalypse. Last (and only) time I was in Quebec city, I was there in the summer and it was cold outside. We are all going to be killed. I suggest we all buy big SUV's to at least have a good time - at the expense of the next generation.
