I am close with a guy who owns a few ford dealerships and he knows about this inside stuff, he said that this is just to show the new direction and styling cues incoln is going to take and that this has not even a remote chance of production

Its not that i dont like it. Its the fact Lincoln is following everyother car manufactor. Like dodge for instance, they have the same grill on every car. 1 bar down, 1 bar across. I think the MKR resembles the front of a new navigator a little bit too much. Just my opinion though.

EDIT: In other words, its big and chrome. What people want now adays, most likely.

Is this vehicle related to the Interceptor concept somehow?

    The grille is obscene. bluntly.

It's called brand recognization. With every other car on the road having 2-4 doors, 4 wheels, headlights up front and taillights out back, you need to have something in particular on all your cars to make you know what they are. Every car company in the world has done this for at least the last 50 years.

I thought they only liked big chromy things in the 50s, isn't having less chrome and a more euro look popular now a days?
