It's impossible to compare these, because they could never:

The GTR is based on the production chassis with steel panels and overall very similar to the production car. The CLK just looks like the production car. It has a full tube frame, push-rod suspension and full composite body panels and composite brakes. Both may be good racecars in their respective classes, but they are in no way similar.

It's only a 640x480, maybe smaller. But enjoy

The CLK, as has been said, is a silhouette racer therefeore my choice if both had to be raced against each other.

Let's say a GT version of the CLK DTM existed, and on the flipside that a DTM version of the M3 GTR existed... this in addition to the DTM rules-based race and the ALMS rules-based races that would take place.

Hehe, I keep adding scenarios to this thread for some reason!

Tough Decision. The M3 GTR just seems a little more fit for me, so its M3 GTR for me

I'd take the BMW M3 GTR because it was such a mean machine it was eventually banned from its race class

Actually there were homologations issues. IIRC not enough were made.

Yea, there was no V8 for the production E46, so after BMW built 10 road going versions of the racecar to keep its legal status, ALMS shafted them by changing it to 100. Blaming it on homologation issues was the ALMS way of saying your car is too f***in fast, we are going to penetrate you rectally with new rules. So BMW just said screw it and hung up the keys.

Well the FIA N-GT rules stated that 200 road going examples should have been completed in order to homolgate the car. Maybe the ALMS had different rules, but I though they were more or less the same as the FIA.

The M3 GTR racer was built primarily with the ALMS in mind though, it was never really intended for FIA or ACO rules. Rymert is right in saying only a handful needed to be built for the ALMS regs. But then the ALMS shifted the goal-posts and rendered it pretty much obsolete.

My bad I didn't know you weren't talking about ALMS. But yea, ALMS specifically changed the rules after Porsche's whining. Originally a road going version had to be sold in at least two continents but they changed it to 100 units in production to screw over BMW, so they withdrew.

I'd go with the M3 GTR. Another reason it's popularity was boosted was because it was one of the main cars in NFS Most Wanted
