    Asian Languages

Anyone study Asian languages? I've studied edit...speak Mandarin for the past 2 years.

Interestingly, I live in the US but I use an Australian Chinese textbook, complete with the Chinese translation of Australia and places like Ayer's Rock.

I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

i've tried japanese back when i was in high school cuz it was offered as a college credited course during high school, but i had to drop out of the program cuz it was interfering wit my hs classes, and i started mixing words with spanish and japanese. it was okay, but this was about 3 or 4 years ago. other than that, at home, since my parents are Pakistani, i know the language, and growing up i was taught to write it. its been a while since i've written but i can probably still write , maybe read it too, but it'll b really hard.

I once tried to learn japanese by myself, with books and things like that. I wanted to learn katakana so I could play video games imported from Japan. It was a complete failure so I let go. Too complicated for me.

I tried Japanese once but I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Germanic/roman languages FTW.

+1 for everyone who has been/is studying foreign languages!

I know some really basic Korean: a handful of phonetic words, and I know how to count. I'd really like to learn more, but it's really not the most available language to study here.

I'm Chinese, so I know Cantonese fluently, but I can't write at all. My grammar and writing skills totally suck. On the other hand, I'm pretty good at Latin and okay with French.

    Hardly a consistent conditional statement.

I am surprised that the most common Asian Languages of Mandarin, Hindi, and Arabic have not been spoken here, interesting.

What do you mean by that?

I'm sure Mandarin, Hindi and Arabic are spoken here, it's just that English is much easier for all of us to read. There's a lot of people from those areas on this forum.
