    Quick question about oil

I have these extra 1liter bottles of Shell oil lying around that I got for free when I bought some big 5liter bottles.
Can you keep these bottles or is there an expiry date on them ? They are unopend. They are stored in the shed outside. So they aren't kept inside at room temperature. It's Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 if it matters.

Stays good for years !!! But if you ever decide to use them, after a few years have a good look at the liquidity. If they are thickened compared to before, dont use them.

Right, I got them back in July or August so I guess it's still good. Thanks

agreed...in closed containers, they should last for years. even in a motor, the only reason you'd ever change the oil in a car that just sits (no miles) is condensation and other contamination, so as long as you've got them sealed up somewhere, you should be good to go.

From where? Not those god damn iron shaving delivering pixies again, I hope. I swear if I ever catch one of those little bastards...
