Where you see only "rays and reflections" I see Killarney waking up starving and thinking "hey I could use some beans", trying to reach the closet climbing to a bench and then falling and breaking 2 teeth on the kitchen floor and thinking to itself that Irish breakfasts are as soft as a punch in the nose like those of Seagal or Stallone, who by the way is already in his sixties and god how fast the time went by, seems like the 1st Rambo came out yesterday and yet he already has grandsons.

really, well i shortened it to "rays and reflections" from "the early morning mist blew in from the overly provocative coastline only to be halted in its advance by that strange purple creature from the moomins which was on its way to see a physician about the weather the previous day then onto a mirror manufacturer in order to discuss the bespoke pane he had ordered and hence had a day full of "rays and reflections" "........

Derek, if there was ever a photo just screaming for HDR treatment, that's it

    High Dynamic Range. Examples:

    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=21729283

    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=21656247

Basically you postprocess the photo to give it a huge dynamic range. Basically in your photo the sky is well exposed (still a little dark, but anyway) but the ground is dark. In HDR you would either take more exposures, exposing for all areas of the photo, or just fiddle around with one, saving a few different versions, then combine them using HDR software and taadaa! A high dynamic range!

While Sauc3's picture is good, I've had enough of 'sunset from the beach.'

Dang, close race. Great pictures, both of them; Derek, you got my vote (which, I'd like to add, made the count 15-16 in your favor )

I second that. But then again it wouldnt be able to be entered.

As for the photos, i think both are a little cliche but dereks is a little underexposed. Lacking some detail. I wouldnt normally vote for another sunset photo.

aah i see. i have to say that the bike one looks better than the car. you can't see the different settings quite as much.

it looks good but a bit unrealistic. i prefer the natural look
