hahaha. no my mum really likes the range rover. i don't mind the volvo but the r63 sort of scares me. and she wants it in black. oh she wants a 7 seater coz my grandparents usually come around and there isn't enough room in dad's car. so that's why she wants a 7 seater. and she has a thing against vans. if only the made range rovers with 7 seats...

Get the Disco. It's got 7 ultimately comfortable seats, it's incredibly spacious and drives like a dream both on and off-road.

Criteria = Big, Expensive, Ridiculous, Seats 7, Flourishes nearby plantations with CO2 (Hey, SUVs save trees right?)

Audi Q7, because it ain't as ugly as the GL, ain't as monstrous as the R-Class.

The Discovery is an excellent choice. A person of 6ft 4 can easily and very comfortably sit in the very rear seats. Shame the interior is a little too utilitarian but it's not bad at all, just won't be quite up there with the Audi's. Also shame about the engines. The TDV6 is really rather slow and the V8 drinks way too much. Anyone know if a Discovery3 TDV8 is on the way?

This may sound hypocritical coming from me, but, don't you think that post was a little pointless?
If you look at the things they need it for I think they have a point. 7 seats for when grandparents are over, which seems to be often, AWD for when it's icy and when the going gets tough and BOOTSPACE. Focus has none of these, although my friends Dad's Focus has all the bootspace in the world, quite literally. The boot opens itself all the time and Ford can't seem to fix it.

apparently the ford developed discovery platfrom has advantages over the more expensive BMW developed rangerover platform. Maybe if LR put the s/c V8 and TDV8 into the disco to soon it would steal sales from the range rover and rangerover sport.
