I think the old one is better looking. However a V70 V8 has a definitive Q-car appeal.

EDIT Apparently there's no V8, but rather a turbocharged 3-litre staright six with 285bhp and 400Nm.

I think the rear lights are a bit fat though. other than that a successful update done in the best possible taste

I quite like it, its very sporty and agressive looking, in a way reminds me of a 5-Series Estate. I think its nice.

The rear looks a little too new Ford Mondeo estate-ish. the lights are prehaps a little too big?
Other than that it looks great! and I'm sure a new interiour will be very welcome, the current one is so dated!
I've always loved V70's. There are litterally hundreds of '97/'98/'99/'00 V70 2.4/2.5's around here.
We nearly had a '99 V70R and my friends Mum drives a silver '98 V70 SE 2.5, I love it although they look aweful without the rear spoilers (lucky Alex's Mum's does have one), the interior of their's is a little dodgey, the leather it kind of bubbling up in the corners of the insets in the doors by the handles...
Another 2 friend's Dad's drive 850 2.4's, one with little alloys and no spoiler, the other, older, but with big 'fanblade' wheels and a spoiler

I love current day Volvo, some may know about my current obsession with pearly white C30 T5 SE Sports with the brown bodykits and black 'n' white interiors...
Also I'm very glad to see the 'fanblade' alloys coming back, I do love them...

EDIT: I'm very temped to try and persuade Dad to look into these when he comes to selling Random Acts 0f 5tupidity in April 2008-ish...

Nice! It can carry a coughfin! that'll be handy!

I don't like it, it's kinda of melting, it should have cryspier lines, and it looks like the v50 like PerfAdv said, it should have a more grown up look.

I hate Volvo's recent styling. At least, the old Volvos have some real style and charm. I can't see any real style or charm when I look at this new Volvo V70 or any other "newer" Volvo... In my opinion, Volvo's enormous rear lights are extremely annoying and all of their "newer" cars are very average looking cars at best. This has happened while Saab are manufacturing cars that look great and have real style such as the Saab 9-3. Also, I don't think Volvo's recent interiors are that impressive, they look fairly good but not as great as many people say the interiors are.

I don't like the rear end, there's just too much hassle in it, crowned by the letters above the reg plate.

The interior is nice, not much new but then again why should there be.

Has anyone noticed the Volvo's design style (pronounced rear shoulders amongst other things) is almost a million years old? They could produce something different...

why? it's proven to be a highly recognisible and versatile style that can be adapted to just about any body style.

    and it's distinctly Volvo.
