The Ford. We had one and it was a very good car which never went wrong.

Since you probably have tested both of them, what do you think?

well... handling. id say my focus. the zetec models handling and the focus safety class topping its class are a big selling point for the focus hence why they keep topping the uk's most bought car. The speed i'd say my focus yet again due to keeping the high revs up and the gear ratios being close. (60mph in 2nd at 6500rpm) oh and to to forget the head/leg rooma and deep pocket space, heated front windscreen along with the nice aesthetic interior make it a nicer car. but on motorways its quite a flat performance due to overgearage.
however the golf has sooo much more torque. and they are good to drive too.

The golfs worth more and is better built. also gets more milage out of it. however for street gred the golf pulls it off with the german private number plate and the big rs4 alloys r32 rear lights etc... i dunno about the golf but all the abs aircon etc is a 500 squid extra.

both common as shit but its a comparison ppl can relate to rather than fantasy cars we'll never drive!

That'd normally be a tough one, since I like both (at least as much as I like little cars). I even had a Focus once and found it to be a good car for its class. But The VW has diesel, and I'm a big diesel fan, so...

I've not driven a Golf, so I can't really say. I can say that I quite enjoyed a Focus loaner car I drove this past summer for two weeks(whilst my car was being fixed). I didn't want to let it go, but I had too.

    100ps TDi > 100ps petrol.
Torque is awesome, and the Golf looks nicer imo.
