    UCP Supercar II

    Hi guys,

I was thinking lately, that it might be nice to do another supercar-project, smilar to the one three years ago, but this time a bit more professional.

We could stick to the way the manufacturers design complete vehicles and use proper designs, calculations and whatever is needed in the progress.

The scheme I think is best to use is this:

I have been learned this is similar as to the way the manufacturers work.

I was thinking we might be able to form groups to handle each of these departments, to everyone's likings and skills.

If possible we could perhaps created a full 3D-CAD model of our own UCP-Supercar ! That seems like a very cool prospect, right ?

I am very curious what everyone thinks and if we can get this running ! Post your initial idea's,suggestions and whatever else comments you got here. Can I/we count YOU in as well ?

Hopefully we will all learn something of this and have a great time doing it

    S.

    First Edit:

Include Chassis in the lowest part of the diagramme.

    I am in!

...my key interest is in the engine/driveline departments but I still like to see how almost everything else comes along. Personally I don't know what type of car we would be designing but I would hope that it is either a lightweight track car (road legal of course) or a good GT. Both would be considered "supercars".

I don't really care what fuel source is decided on but I still think that diesel deserves a chance in a super GT. Heck with todays technology we could probably figure an interesting track car using diesel...

Hopefully those envolved can be counted on to maintain an amount of respect for all others and try to get this rolling as smoothly as possible.
Power, whether measured as HP, PS, or KW is what accelerates cars and gets it up to top speed. Power also determines how far you take a wall when you hit it
    Engine torque is an illusion.

Shouldn't there be some consideration given to the chassis? It sounds certainly interesting.

If more than one person is going to be working on a particular section, a "technical director" or whatever you want to call it should be consider. So for example, if 5 people are working the driveline they should all report to the Driveline Technical Director. The technical director would then report to the project manager.

The project manager should have visibility of the entire project but shouldn’t have to micromanage each component.

I also think that Styling/Design should be moved below the Complete Car, but that may not be the way it is done.

Count me in. But since my knowledge of engineering is close to none and my drawing skills are non-existant, I'd like to be in the product-planning department.

    I can agree with that

The guys from complete car, need to make sure that every proposed thing will fit in the total package. My teachers gave examples from the development of the Volvo 480. They made a plastic body, without realising that the radio would have no receive. These things complete vehicle has to prevent and manage. Quite the challenge.

I personally volunteer to play project manager,if everyone agrees ?. Perhaps I can have a chat with my teacher and ask him for advice, help, tips and whatever more on the progress. He worked in the industry until last year so he has plenty of experience.

Perhaps the project groups, need to make a short report of their progress every time or something ?
