I agree mounting certain engine configurations transversly does lead to a more compact solution.
Yes the engine department is in agreement with the product planning department about the engine needing to be usefull and responsive across a wide rev range.
Power, whether measured as HP, PS, or KW is what accelerates cars and gets it up to top speed. Power also determines how far you take a wall when you hit it
