Does LHD tranny fits RHD ??

Hi guys, my 1.8T's tranny is dead. Was wondering if I could buy a manual transmission from USA/Can and fix it to my A4 B5 1.8T (originally Automatic). Rebuilding the my current tranny costs around $2500 USD, buying a manual from Ebay (USA) costs around $500 to $800, perhaps after freight charges and tax rates (43% import tax from my country) it would end up around $1500USD.

Problem is, does a Left Hand Drive Manual Gearbox fits a Right Hand Drive ? Don't forget A4s are longitudinally mounted. I'm in a serious dilemma here.

I think that you would need another ECU as well if you're going from auto to manual (or the other way around). You can't just swap them IIRC.

If it does fit, remember that 1st is on the other side.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

I didn't know transvestite clothes were left or right handed

Buying second hand gearboxes "blind" is a bad idea.
There are often changes during manufacture and you may end up with an incompatible 'box.
