The Arcade Fire and the whole Montreal music scene, and most of the musicians on Arts & Crafts coming from Toronto (Broken Social Scene, Leslie Feist, Stars, et al). Other notables such as Hot Hot Heat, Metric, The New Pornographers, and of course my favourite The Unicorns.

Canada has a ton of great talent just below the mainstream, but unfortunately our worst acts like Nickelback, Alexisonfire, Celine Dion, get all the attention. I know ultimately it's subjective, but I just wish more bands got the attention they deserve.
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

Well I for one wouldn't lump Alexisonfire in with that frackdamn Dion or Nicklehack etc.
As for the other bands that you have listed, I do reckon that they are really cool, but they are a tad too "soft" for my liking, as well as being very "hipster-ish" (whatever that means). That being said, Broken Social Scene, Feist, and Metric/Emily Haines I really dig, as well as Death From Above 1979/MSTRKRFT and I do have the cd's, but Hot Hot Heat is one band (of many) that I could live without. While we're on the cancon subject though, I would like say that K-OS is the best.

I really like AOF, Dallas is an amazing songwriter, and the band has amazing energy, and will never be accused of sounding like anyone else.

I can see how the screaming can turn people off, but a look at the lyrics will show how George's screaming is used as either an exclamamatory to Dallas' lyrics or a counterpoint.

I realize that some people won't be able to appreciate them, just as I personally can't appreciate other types of music ..... it is all subjective.

No prob, sometimes I can come off a little blunt though when it comes to music. I'm a bit opinionated, heh.

I was a little harsh lumping Alexisonfire with Celine Dion, or Nickelback, they are much better than those two. I agree with the K-OS comment too, he's quite good. Cadence Weapon is another good Canadian hip-hop act.
