We got 2 or 3 inches of snow the other night here in Charlottesville. It's a particularly wet and heavy snow, and slippery too. The temperatures just get above freezing during the day, and then drop back down during the night, so there are patches of ice everywhere.

The last 10 days have been like this: about 10 cm of snow in the evening, then in the morning it all melts down and you have to walk through that dirty mash to get anywhere. It's supposedly the warmest winter in our history (meaning since around 1750, when our weather archives started). Normally it was -5C to -10C, this year we rarely have below 0C. But that's here at the coast. Down south, especially in the mountains, they have more snow.

It's not denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

driving in the snow is so much fun. I drove today to Alford and my parents building plot which lies up a steep farm track. I am surprised my car made it! Even part time 4wd is pretty effective even with my budget tyres. Hopefully get some snow fun photos up soon if it continues to snow in Aberdeen.

You people dont know what cold feels like... This week it's been below -20 all week,m and next wee itl be the same, with the wind factor it feels like -35! I'm lucky to have a metro station next to my house, and another directly below the University, so i dont get it that bad.

Ook maybe those of you from Norway and Finland know what it is like.

This winter has been really screwed up. It was 50+ degrees Fahrenheit from November all the way up to mid-January, and it didn't even snow or flurry for that matter for once. Then, we got hit with temperatures in the low teens and even single digits Fahrenheit, with a random inch of snow here or there.

I've yet to see a snowfall of more than 3".. and last February we had like 4 of them for 12+.

Well, schools would.. it can get dangerous for kids to be traveling out in those temperatures.

Just how is a low temperature bad for school kids? Unless you have to sleep outside, it all comes down to the clothing.

Here it was a bit warmer today about -10 C and snowing all day...

And if we complained our parents used to tell us how much worse the conditions were when they were young, it was colder, +10km to a school without proper heating etc... and if they complained their parents used to tell them how much worse it was when they were young. Sounds familiar?
