    Oddly enough, no.
The psychology of it goes like this.....

I pay a lot for a car with a "quality brand"
SO I expect much higher quality than is reasonable
and complain that it doesn't meet those high standards.

Good survey removes a lot of the "ego protection" that often happens with car owners

The Mini got 3 out of 5 in the TG survey on reliability and quality.

What I don't understand is that despite bad showings in satifaction surveys people still buy german cars as if they were bulletproof or something...

Or perhaps: "Dang this is the third time my car has broken down this month!" "But its ok 'cause I drive a Jaguar!"

    (no joke towards Jaguar intended...)

In Europe Volkswagens are more expensive than other generalist manufacturers.

Same thing for SKODA! why buy an A4 when you can buy and Octavia for much less, keeping all the goodies and with even better gearbox ratios and handling...

    Zeee badge!

That Mercedes star could be put on anyhing and people would buy it!

Since the begining of the 90s that Mercedes as plumeted in the reliability status, after the enginering department was given half the funding. It was only after 10 or so years that they started building the reliable Mercedes again, but with the comming of more and more electronics and no time to test them, that part of "reliabilty" continues to fail...

And after all that, Mercedes sales never droped, that star is everything!

Me? when i can, i'm getting miself a Lexus, the 220d s are starting to pop up in Portugal! BEAUTIFULL!!!

Good to see Mercedes not wanting to be awarded the company with the Most Expensive Lemon again.

I can only agree with you. Except for the Altea XL and the Toledo, but that's another story...

Yes, but... the Octavia and the A4 are not based in the same platforms and only share some engines. A much better comparison would be between the A3 Sportback and the Octavia either estate or hatchback. However you can't still have the V6 or the 265bhp 2-litre turbo.

Despite that I think the Octavia RS Estate looks brilliant.

Yes but i'm comparing the A4 2.0 tdi with the Octavia Rs tdi (same engine) at the end the Octavia as a better package and at less price.

I like the Avensis to, but i'll take the Lexus, this on looks alone, it's brilliant. Black IS220d for me please!
